Launches & safety

Aerial view of a model rocket launch: white smoke trail above an open field, with vehicles and range setup visible.

Where we launch

Club launch days are held at partner fields with proper waivers and host-club safety rules. We typically fly with ROCC (Rocketry of Central Carolina) or with Charlotte Aeromodelers at their field — which site we use on a given weekend follows Band announcements and advisor approval.

Weather & cancellations

Wind limits, lightning, and field saturation can scrub a day. Officers will push updates through the school-approved channel (email, Classroom, GroupMe, etc.) — list the real channel once set.

What to bring

  • Water, sun protection, closed-toe shoes
  • Completed preflight paperwork if required by advisors
  • Club tools stay communal — treat shared gear better than your own
